Landlord

The term is used to describe the owner of a real estate property (usually a piece of land or a building) who rents or leases it to someone else, referred to as the tenant. The landlord is responsible to the tenant for maintenance of the property the latter is occupying. The real estate investor who becomes a landlord can profit from both the ongoing rental income from the property and its appreciation in price over time.
